Some Important Safety Tips

  • Always arm your Security System, even when you are home.
  • Make sure you always lock all your doors and windows, even when you are at home.
  • Keep all your valuables out of sight. You don't want to give an intruder a reason to enter your home or business.
  • All exterior doors should have a dead bolt lock. It is recommended using one that does not need a key to get outside. This is so you can get out quickly in case of a fire or other emergency.
  • Never leave a key outside, instead leave one with a friend or neighbor.
  • Install motion-detector floodlights and mount them high enough so an intruder cannot disable them.
  • Use light or radio timers when you are away to make people think there is someone home.
  • Request the Postal Service hold your mail or have a friend or neighbor pick up your mail or packages when you are away. Built up mail is an indication that you are away.
  • Check the batteries in your smoke detector each time you change your clocks. Regular tests may discover if you need to change the batteries.
  • Don't leave a message on your answering machine stating you are not at home. Instead record a greeting that says you cannot come to the phone.
  • Report all suspicious people or vehicles to the police. You may also want to join, or start a Neighborhood Watch Program.
